On October 4, 2011, the Real Property Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Richard S. Ziman Center for Real Estate at UCLA will again join together to host The 40th Annual Benjamin S. Crocker Symposium on Real Estate Law and Business 2011, at the JW Marriott in downtown Los Angeles.

This symposium promises to be a day of dynamic discussions and networking with some of real estate’s biggest stars as we explore the kaleidoscope that is California’s real estate market – the laws and regulations that affect it, as well as the practical, legal and business concerns that shape it.

The Real Property Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association first presented a real estate law symposium in 1972, subsequently named in honor of Benjamin S. Crocker (1935-1973), whose personal efforts significantly contributed to the growth of the Section and its mission of continuing legal education. While originally a program for real estate attorneys, in 2003 the Benjamin S. Crocker Symposium was expanded into an educational program for all real estate professionals including members of the business community. In 2007, the Section began its partnership with the Richard S. Ziman Center for Real Estate at UCLA to co-sponsor the 2008 Crocker Symposium. The 2011 program will be the 40th Annual Crocker Symposium.

The Crocker Symposium is now the premier conference of its type in California. The foremost legal practitioners, real estate professionals, academics and governmental officials lead sophisticated discussions to over 500 attendees on a wide variety of cutting-edge topics with a focus on current developments in best practices in real estate business and law. The program, which is designed for, and attended by, all types of real-estate professionals, including accountants, asset managers, attorneys, bankers, brokers, developers, government officials, investors, property owners, tenants, title insurers and underwriters, presents its attendees with an unparalleled opportunity to think about the future through an analysis of recent and projected real estate trends in California. It also offers real estate business professionals a better understanding of the legal issues affecting their work and attorneys with a better understanding of how their clients' businesses are impacted by the advice that they give. Over the past few years, more than 400 people have attended the Crocker Symposium annually, providing attendees with a unique opportunity to network with key players in all fields within the real estate industry.
